Lake Forest Defeats Benedictine and North Central in Triangular
Team extends wining streak to five matches

DeAnna Bauer had a career-high 16 digs against Benedictine.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester volleyball team hosted and defeated Benedictine University in four games (30-28, 30-24, 27-30, 30-17) and North Central College in three (30-19, 30-21, 30-23) on Saturday (September 11). North Central defeated Benedictine in the triangular’s other match. Lake Forest raised its record on the season to 5-2. North Central is now 1-5 and Benedictine fell to 4-3.

Freshman Nicole Baich (Westchester,IL/Nazareth Academy) led the home team with 14 kills and six blocks in the victory over Benedictine and posted a .357 hitting percentage in the match. Senior DeAnna Bauer (Naperville, IL/Naperville North) also reached double figures in kills with 10 and added a career-high 16 digs. Senior Amy Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) led the team with 20 digs and chipped in four blocks. Freshman Merissa Martin (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) and senior Andrea Krueger (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) each tallied 15 digs. Krueger also tied sophomore Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, WI/Pius XI) with a team-high five aces and led the squad with 42 assists.

In the Foresters’ second match of the day, Amy Krueger led the way with 10 kills, followed by Baich with nine and Bauer, Balcerzak, and sophomore Savanna Shumaker (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) with eight. Junior Meghan Miller (Williams Bay, WI/Williams Bay) paced the squad with 19 digs and seven aces. Andrea Krueger tallied 29 assists.

Lake Forest will play its next match at Dominican University Thursday (September 16) night at 7:00. The Foresters will then compete at Wheaton College’s Thunder Classic on Saturday (September 18) and face Hope College (10:00 a.m.), Aurora University (12:00 p.m.), and Benedictine University (2:30 p.m.).
