LAKE FOREST, IL - It took a little longer than expected, but the Lake Forest College volleyball team defeated the University of Chicago at home Tuesday (September 17) night in the team's fourth five game match of the season. The Foresters, who are 3-1 in game fives this year, improve to 3-5 on the season and improve their all-time record against Chicago to 29-11.

Four Foresters reached double-figures in kills in the match, led by Jenny Anderson's (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) 17. The junior co-captain, who was named Midwest Conference South Division Player of the Week on Tuesday (September 17), also tied for the team-lead with 16 digs.

Junior Jenna Harper (St. Louis, MO/Clayton) tallied 14 kills with just one error in 29 attempts, good for a .448 hitting percentage. She added a team-high three blocks, raising her total for the season to 29.

Junior co-captain Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) shared the team-lead in digs with 16 and added season-highs in both kills (12) and aces (6).

The fourth Forester in double-figures in the kill column was senior Kelly McNiff (Maryland Heights, MO/Pattonville) with 10.

After winning games one and two convincingly (30-15, 30-20), Lake Forest found itself in danger of losing the match by dropping games three and four (30-27, 30-23). The Foresters led for most of game five and eventually finished off the Maroons 15-12 for the victory.

Lake Forest will travel to Benedictine University on Friday (September 20) to take on both North Central College (6:00 p.m.) and Benedictine University (8:00 p.m.). Next week the Foresters will host Dominican University on Thursday (September 26) at 7:00 p.m. and will travel to Beloit College for next weekend's (September 28-29) Midwest Conference Crossover Tournament.
