Foresters Split at North Central College Triangular to Open 2003 Season
Anderson moves into second place all-time with 1,070 career kills 
  

Jenny Anderson is now 2nd in school history in career kills.
NAPERVILLE, IL - The Lake Forest College volleyball team began its 2003 season by splitting two matches at the North Central College Triangular on Saturday (September 6). After knocking off Benedictine University in the first match, the Foresters lost to North Central in five games.

After falling 27-30 in the first game against Benedictine, the Foresters bounced back to take the following two games, each by the score of 30-22. Senior Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) tallied nine of her team-high 19 kills in the two games, while junior teammate Andrea Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) dished out 23 of her match-high 53 assists in games two and three.

After falling in the fourth game 28-30, Lake Forest came back in the deciding game to defeat Benedictine 15-8 and secure the team's first win of the season. Along with her 19 kills, Metzger tossed in a team-high 27 digs, and three blocks. Meanwhile, senior outside hitter Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) added 16 kills, five aces, and 23 digs, and senior middle blocker Jenna Harper (St. Louis, MO/Clayton) recorded 12 kills and two blocks. With Anderson's 16 kills, she moved into second place in school history behind Stephanie Reinboldt '02.

In the match against North Central College, the Foresters controlled the first and fourth games, winning them 30-26 and 30-24, respectively. However the home team won games two and three and edged out Lake Forest 16-14 in the fifth. 

Metzger led the way again for Lake Forest with 18 kills and three aces, while Krueger tallied 58 assists in the match. After two games, Metzger leads the team with 37 kills, 44 digs, and seven aces, and Krueger has recorded 111 assists in her first two matches.

Sophomore Meghan Miller (Williams Bay, WI/Williams Bay) recorded a team-high 18 digs against North Central, while freshman Savanna Shumaker (Bristol, WI/ Westosha Central) contributed 13 kills in her collegiate debut. Harper and Anderson added 15 and 12 kills, respectively, while Anderson added 12 digs and Harper tallied five blocks.

On Tuesday (September 9), Lake Forest will travel to Elmhurst College, who is currently ranked sixth in the nation. The Foresters will then will participate in the Illinois Wesleyan University Classic on Friday and Saturday (September 12-13). Lake Forest will take on UW-River Falls and Beloit College Friday evening and will face Illinois College and Mount St. Joseph College on Saturday.
