Metzger leads the Foresters in kills and digs
  

Stephanie Metzger leads the team in kills, digs, and aces.
ELMHURST, IL - The Forester volleyball team fell to 1-2 on the young season with a three-game loss (31-23, 30-28, 30-20) at Elmhurst College Tuesday (September 9). In the September 3 national coaches poll, Elmhurst was ranked number six in the country.

Senior Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) led the team with 13 kills and 10 digs. She also added a pair of blocks. Fellow senior Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) was second on the team in kills with eight and two freshmen, Savanna Shumaker (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) and Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, WI/Pius XI), each had seven. Balcerzak also recorded three of the team's five aces. Junior Andrea Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) tallied 34 assists and senior Jenna Harper (St. Louis, MO/Clayton) had four blocks.

Metzger leads the Foresters so far this season with 50 kills, 54 digs, and seven aces in three matches. She is also second on the squad with eight blocks. Krueger has 145 assists so far and Harper is tops on the team with 11 blocks.
 
Lake Forest will compete in the Illinois Wesleyan University Classic this weekend (September 12-13). The team will take on UW-River Falls (5:00), the tenth-ranked team in the country, and Midwest Conference rival Beloit College (7:00) Friday evening. On Saturday, the Foresters will face another conference foe in Illinois College (10:00 a.m.) and another nationally ranked program (#11) in the College of Mount St. Joseph (12:00 p.m.).
