Jackie Slaats Named State of Illinois Women's Basketball Coach of the Year
Coach receives honor for 2nd straight year

Jackie Slaats is the IBCA Coach of the Year for the third time in her career.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College Head Women's Basketball Coach Jackie Slaats has been named the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA). It marks the third time in her coaching career that she has been bestowed the honor. Slaats was also honored in 1992 and 2000.

This season, Slaats guided the Foresters to a 20-5 overall mark and the Midwest Conference Championship, the school's second title in a row and fourth overall. It also marked the fourth consecutive 20-win season for Lake Forest. For the first time in school history, Lake Forest hosted an NCAA Tournament game but were defeated by Ohio Wesleyan University, who went on to finish third in the tourney.

The IBCA award was the second Coach of the Year honor for Slaats this year. Earlier, she was named the 2000-01 MWC Coach of the Year. She also received both awards last season. During Slaats's 15-year tenure at Lake Forest, she has guided the Foresters to a 257-89 overall record, good for a 74% winning percentage, which ranks her among
the top 20 active NCAA Division III women's basketball coaches for winning percentage.
