GRUBBS NAMED MVP, MURILLO SELECTED MIP FOR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Alison Grubbs, a junior guard from Cullom, IL (Tri-Point High School), and Michelle Murillo, a junior guard from Des Plaines, IL (Maine West High School), have been named team Most Valuable Player and Most Improved Player, respectively, for the Lake Forest College Women's Basketball program.

The awards were presented at Sunday's (April 30th) Winter/Spring Lake Forest College Athletic Banquet.

Grubbs, who received the Midwest Conference Player of the Year award this season, led the Foresters in scoring (18.4 points per game), assists (92), steals (76), free throw percentage (.864), and three-point percentage (.479). She was a First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-American (Division III Basketball Online) selection this season.

Murillo, in her first season on the varsity squad at Lake Forest, appeared in 12 games and averaged 1.6 points per game while shooting 50% (6/12) from the field.

The Foresters accumulated a 21-4 overall record and won the Midwest Conference Championship in 1999-2000. It was the fourth MWC title for Lake Forest. The team also advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time in school history.
