Foresters Top University of Chicago by 25 Points
Team heads into winter break on four-game winning streak

LAKE FOREST, IL - The University of Chicago women's basketball team made the short trip up to Lake Forest College on Tuesday (December 11th). The Foresters defeated the visiting Maroons by a score of 75-50 for their fourth straight victory. Chicago's record falls to 3-6.

Leading the Foresters in scoring, as she had in four of the five previous games, was freshman guard Kandyce Green (Chicago Heights, IL/Marian Catholic). Green scored a season-high 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field. She also grabbed three rebounds and added a game-high four steals. Green leads Lake Forest in both scoring (11.6 ppg) and steals (2.4 spg) this season.

Senior guard Jenni Klusman (New Berlin, WI/New Berlin West) also recorded a season-high in points with 12. She connected on four of eight field goal attempts, including a pair from three-point range. Klusman also dished out a pair of assists and added three steals.

Freshman forward Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) and sophomore forward Tangara Cross (Garland, TX/Naaman Forest) each pulled down a game-high seven rebounds and combined to score 17 points on 8-12 shooting from the field. Sophomore guard Sherry Wagner (Chicago, IL/Mother McAuley) had a team-high four assists, made a pair of three-pointers, and scored seven points.

The Foresters out-rebounded the Maroons 35-25 and scored 34 points off of 30 Chicago turnovers.

Lake Forest never trailed in the game, which started with the home team jumping out to a 23-5 lead after slightly more than seven minutes of play. The lead grew to as many as 21 points in the first period, which ended with Lake Forest ahead 45-28. The Foresters scored the first five points of the second half and led by at least 19 points the rest of the way.

It was the final game of the fall semester for the Foresters, who are now 8-1 overall on the season. The two-time defending Midwest Conference Champions will begin 2002 with a 3-0 MWC record and 12 straight league games on their schedule.
