GRUBBS NAMED TO ALL AMERICAN FARM TEAM
Lake Forest College junior Alison Grubbs (Cullom, IL/Tri Point High School) has been selected to the 11-member 1999-2000 Women's Basketball All-American Farm Team. Grubbs, a 5-6 guard, is a two-time All-American and First Team All-Midwest Conference selection. This year, Grubbs is averaging 17.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 3.1 steals for the 7-1 Lake Forest women's basketball team.
The All-American Farm Team is a scholastic program sponsored by Dodge Truck and Successful Farming magazine, honoring outstanding collegiate athletes who call a farm or ranch home. This, the second part of the program, honors outstanding men and women athletes from the sports of basketball and wrestling. Similar teams are selected from the sports of football, volleyball, track, softball, and baseball.
Selections to all these teams are made by a panel of judges comprised of sports writers and broadcasters, college coaches and sports information directors. All athletes named to the program's first-team receive a $500 scholarship. And all athletes and their parents receive a plaque honoring their selection to the team.
This marks the fifth year for the All-American Farm Team program. During that time the program has awarded $150,000 in scholarships to deserving athletes.
Successful Farming magazine is an agricultural journal with 1.5 million readers nationwide.
