The Foresters scored first but would not lead again. A 10-2 St. Norbert run broke a 6-6 tie and put the visitors ahead for good. A 14-2 run by the Green Knights later in the first half put them ahead 30-16 with four minutes remaining. Lake Forest cut the deficit to seven but trailed 36-24 at halftime. The home team pulled to within eight points five times in the second half, the last with 7:27 left, but would get no closer.

Bauer was 12-for-13 from the foul line and scored a career-high 24 points on Saturday. Senior guard Devon Liebl (Brookfield, WI/Milwaukee Pius XI) and sophomore center Nicole Baich (Westchester, IL/Nazareth Academy) shot a combined 13-for-20 from the field and added 15 points each.

The hosts made 45.1% of their field goals while the Lady Pioneers shot just 40.6%. The teams combined to make just seven three-pointers in 23 tries. The visitors also pulled down four more rebounds (39-35) and committed nine fewer turnovers (13-22).

There were five ties and four lead changes in the first half and Carroll’s seven-point lead (41-34) at halftime was the largest margin of the game to that point. A 14-2 Forester run pulled the home team to within nine with 5:45 to go but Carroll shot 13-for-16 down the stretch to seal the win.
