WHEATON, IL - The Lake Forest College women’s basketball team dropped a 60-44 decision at Wheaton College Tuesday (December 7) night. The Foresters fell to 3-3 on the season while the Thunder improved their record to 5-2.

Senior Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) led the Foresters with 15 points. She shot 6-for-10 from the field and added six rebounds and a pair of steals. Senior Kandyce Green (Chicago, IL/Marian Catholic) and junior Devon Liebl (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Pius XI) were next on the squad with eight points each and freshman Nicole Baich (Westchester, IL/Nazareth Academy) led the team with seven rebounds in just 10 minutes.

Wheaton shot 36.2% from the floor and made a third of its 15 attempts from three-point range. Lake Forest was 31.0% from the field and just 4-for-21 (19.0%) from beyond the arc. Both teams pulled down 44 rebounds and the Foresters committed 19 turnovers, seven more than their hosts.

Lake Forest led 12-10 after the opening four-and-a-half minutes of the game before a 15-2 Wheaton run put the home team ahead for good. The Foresters cut the margin to seven twice late in the first period and trailed by nine (38-28) at halftime.

The teams traded baskets for the first four minutes of the second half before Wheaton strung together five straight points and kept its lead in double figures for the rest of the game.

Lake Forest will not play again until after Christmas. The team will travel to San Antonio, Texas, to compete in the Trinity University Invitational Tournament. The Foresters will take on Salve Regina University in the semifinals on Wednesday, December 29, and will face either St. Olaf College or the hosts the following day in the championship or consolation game.
