GRINNELL, IA - The Lake Forest College women's basketball team continued its winning ways on Saturday (December 8th) with a convincing 70-29 victory at Grinnell College. The team is now 7-1 overall this season and a perfect 3-0 in the Midwest Conference.

Senior guard Jenni Klusman (New Berlin, WI/New Berlin West), junior forward Katie McCants (Menasha, WI/Menasha), and freshman guard Kandyce Green (Chicago Heights, IL/Marian Catholic) tied for the team lead in scoring with eight points each. All 14 Foresters that saw action in the game made at least one field goal.

Lake Forest shot 29-of-60 from the field (48.3%), including 7-of-12 from three-point range (58.3%). The Foresters out-rebounded the home team 39-25, added 15 steals and forced 28 turnovers.

Grinnell actually took a 5-3 lead in the game's first few minutes before an 11-0 run by the Foresters put them ahead for good. The lead grew to 19 points by halftime (33-14). The second half was more of the same as Lake Forest outscored Grinnell 37-15.

The Foresters have outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points per game this season. Of their seven victories, six have come by at least 20 points and three have been by more than 40. Because of the large leads, head coach Jackie Slaats has been able to spread out the playing time and get everyone involved. Only one player on the team (Kandyce Green at 10.6 ppg.) is averaging in double-figures and eight Foresters are scoring at least five points per contest.

The next opponent for Lake Forest will be the University of Chicago. The Foresters host the Maroons on Tuesday (December 11th) evening at 6:00 in their final game of the fall semester.
