Lake Forest Wins Convincingly at North Park University
Foresters finish 2007 portion of schedule with 8-1 record

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Forester women’s basketball team won 71-43 at North Park University Saturday afternoon (December 8). Lake Forest, which entered the week ranked 14th in the nation by D3hoops.com and 15 in the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Coaches Poll, is now 8-1 on the season. North Park fell to 0-6.

Centers Nicole Baich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy), a senior, and Lisa Nassin (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park), a sophomore, led the Forester in scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Baich also pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Senior guard Eileen Walsh (Hickory Hills, Ill./Amos Alonzo Stagg) was next on the squad with nine points and joined fellow senior guard Beth Lucas (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) and junior forward Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) for team-high honors with four assists. Senior guard Jenna Werdell (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) led the visitors with four of the team’s 20 steals.

Lake Forest shot 47.6 percent from the field, but was just 1-for-10 from three-point range and 10-for-17 from the free throw line. North Park shot 36.2 percent from the floor, 3-for-11 from beyond the arc, and 6-for-11 from the line. The Foresters were out-rebounded 32-31 but forced 34 turnovers while committing just 19.

The game was tied 9-9 before a 16-0 Forester run gave the visitors the advantage. The lead reached 22 points (42-20) after a 14-2 Lake Forest run later in the half and the score was 44-23 at intermission.

The difference during the second half was never less than 20 points and reached as high as 32.

The Foresters will not play again until Tuesday, January 8, at Midwest Conference foe Monmouth College. That game will begin at 5:30 p.m. Lake Forest’s next home game will be on Friday, January 25, against Carroll College.
