Junior forward Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld), the team's leader in both scoring and rebounding on the season, paced the squad with 15 points and a game-high nine boards. She was 7-for-10 from the field in the game, slightly better than her .631 field goal percentage so far this season. With 13 points, junior guard Kandyce Green (Chicago, IL/Marian Catholic) reached double figures in scoring for the seventh time in eight games. Fellow guards Kristy Freeman (Palatine, IL/Palatine) and Sherry Wagner (Chicago, IL/Mother McAuley) tied for the team-lead with four assists each. Lake Forest, which entered the game with a .441 field goal percentage on the year, shot just 40% against Carthage. The Foresters held the home team to 37.7% shooting and matched the Lady Reds' 36 rebounds. The main statistical difference between the teams came at the free throw line, where Lake Forest shot just 4-for-11 while Carthage was 14-for-15. The Foresters jumped out to the early lead and was ahead 18-10 with
13 minutes left in the first half. Carthage, however, outscored the visitors
24-6 over the next 10 minutes. Green scored the only two points for either
team in the last three minutes and 12 seconds of the period and Carthage
led 34-26 at intermission.
The Foresters will not play again until Sunday, January 4, when the team will host the University of Chicago at 2:00 p.m. The final 14 games on Lake Forest's schedule will be against fellow Midwest Conference schools, beginning with a home game on Wednesday, January 7, against Monmouth College.
