Foresters’ Victory at Grinnell is School Record 13th in a Row
Lake Forest limits Pioneers to just 35 points

GRINNELL, Iowa - The Lake Forest College women’s basketball team recorded a convincing 58-35 victory at Grinnell College Saturday (February 10) afternoon. The Foresters, who entered the week ranked 19th in the nation by D3hoops.com, have now won a school record 13 consecutive contests and are 19-2 overall and 13-1 in Midwest Conference play this season. The Pioneers fell to 7-14 overall and 3-11 in the league.

Lake Forest freshman center Lisa Nassin (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) scored a game-high 12 points in the contest, including eight from the free throw line in nine attempts. She also pulled down seven rebounds. Senior guard/forward Andrea Durante (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park) was next on the team with nine points and junior center Nicole Baich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) had eight points, eight rebounds, and three steals.

The Foresters shot just 31.5 percent from the field, including 1-for-17 from three-point range. Grinnell posted a .245 field goal percentage and knocked down four of 26 shots from beyond the arc. Lake Forest held a significant advantage from the free throw line, where the visitors shot 23-for-36 while the Pioneers were just 6-for-10. The Foresters matched the second-highest total in team history with 61 rebounds in the contest while the home team pulled down just 28. Lake Forest committed 16 of the game’s 31 turnovers.

The Foresters grabbed three offensive rebounds on the first possession of the game before Durante scored to give the visitors the lead for good. The difference reached double figures with 3:21 to play in the first half and the score was 29-16 in favor of Lake Forest at intermission.

After scoring the first six points of the second half, the Foresters led by no less than 14 the remainder of the contest.

Lake Forest remains tied atop the MWC standings with two league games to play. The Foresters will travel to Monmouth College Wednesday (February 14) night for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off and will close out the regular season at home Saturday (February 17) afternoon at 4:00 against Knox College.
