Devon Liebl matched one career-high and set another.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's basketball team completed the season sweep of Grinnell College 74-57 on Saturday (February 14). The win in the team's final home game improved the Foresters' overall record to 15-7 and Midwest Conference record to 11-4, securing the third seed in the league tournament at the end of this month.

Sophomore Devon Liebl (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Pius XI) led the team in scoring for the second time in the last three contests. The guard scored 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and perfect shooting from the three-point arc (3-3). She also pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds to post her first career double-double.

A trio of juniors also finished the game scoring in double figures. Guard Kristy Freeman (Palatine, IL/Palatine) netted 15 points in 17 minutes off the bench, Kandyce Green (Chicago, IL/Marian Catholic) tallied a dozen points and a career-high seven assists, and forward Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) finished with her league-best ninth double-double (10 points and 10 boards).

With one regular season game remaining, Clerkin leads the team in field goal percentage (58.6%), points per game (14.8), rebounds per contest (8.5), steals (33), and blocks (30). Green tops the team in three-point percentage (37.5%), and Freeman is number one in assists (51).

Lake Forest controlled the first half by outscoring the Pioneers 47-32 and holding a +8 rebounding edge. The Foresters grabbed a dozen offensive rebounds and Grinnell tallied 15 total rebounds in the half. The home team's second half defense limited the visitors to only four made field goals. Grinnell scored the rest of its points from the charity stripe, going 15-25 in the half.

Overall, the Foresters shot 38.2% from the field and connected on 36.4% of their three-point shots (8-22). Lake Forest pummeled Grinnell on the glass (50-33), including 25 offensive rebounds, and forced the visitors into 21 turnovers.

The Foresters will get their final tune up before the conference tournament on Wednesday night when the team plays at Monmouth College (5-16, 3-11). Last month, Lake Forest routed the Fighting Scots 74-47. The last time the Foresters lost to Monmouth was in 1983.
