FORESTERS PREPARE FOR MWC TOURNAMENT

Score board watching.Along with their two final regular season games of the season, the Foresters will have a keen eye on the rest of the league's, particularly St. Norbert's, games. A Lawrence upset at St. Norbert on Wednesday night would put Lake Forest back in the driver's seat for hosting the MWC Championship Tournament. Of course, the Foresters must win their two games this week. LF will host Ripon on Wednesday evening and Grinnell on Saturday afternoon. The Foresters have beaten both of those teams on the road already this season.

Charting the MWC Tournament.Last week, Lawrence joined Lake Forest and St. Norbert in this year's Conference Tournament field. Carroll is the front-runner for the final spot. The Pioneers must win one of their final two games to clinch a berth. Carroll travels to Beloit on Wednesday and to Ripon on Saturday. Fifth-place Ripon needs two Carroll losses and two wins of their own to sneak into the tournament.

Checking out the NCAA statistics. In the latest NCAA Division III statistical report, Lake Forest junior guard Alison Grubbs ranks in the top ten for two categories - free throw percentage (8th; 85.7%) and three-point field goal percentage (7th; 44.3%). She also checks in at 40th in scoring with 17.9 ppg.

Foresters familiar with the league's top three. Lake Forest ranks in the top three for all seven team statistical categories that the league compiles, the only team to appear in the top three for all the categories. The Foresters lead all MWC teams in scoring (72.8 ppg), field goal percentage (43.8%), and assists per game (17.1). The team is second in the league for defensive points allowed (56.1 ppg) and three-point filed goal percentage (35.8%).

Scouting the Red Hawks. After a slow start to the season (the Red Hawks lost 8 of their first 10 games), Ripon has rebounded to win 7 of their last 10. RC stands at 9-11 overall and 7-7 in the MWC. Ripon still holds an outside chance of gaining a spot in the MWC Championship Tournament. The Red Hawks enter this week's games in fifth place and need not only two wins of their own this week, but two Carroll losses, to make the tourney.

Scouting the Pioneers.Grinnell has struggled to a 1-18 overall record this season, including a 1-13 mark in MWC play. The team's only win cam on December 1st at home versus Knox, 47-36. Lake Forest won 67-48 at Grinnell last Saturday (Feb. 12).
