Shannon Clerkin Earns Academic All-District Honors
Junior named to second team

Shannon Clerkin has been extremely successful both on the court and in the classroom.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The College Sports Information Directors of America named Lake Forest College women’s basketball player Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) Second Team Academic All-District College Division Thursday (February 19). Six players from District V, which includes all schools in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota were named to the first team and five to both the second and third.

Clerkin, a business and communications major, leads the 2003-04 Foresters in scoring (14.8 ppg.), rebounding (8.6 rpg.), blocked shots (32) and steals (34). The junior’s .582 field goal percentage is not only the highest on the team, but also the 15th-best mark in the nation. In addition, she has recorded 10 double-doubles so far this season.

To be eligible for the Academic All-America Program, a player must maintain at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and make significant contributions to her team. All 16 players named to the District V teams have a GPA significantly higher than the minimum.
