Alison Grubbs Named to Verizon Academic All-District First-Team
Senior has 3.70 GPA earning double-major in Biology and Education

Senior Alison Grubbs has been named to the Academic All-District team for the second straight year.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College women's basketball player Alison Grubbs (Cullom, IL/Tri-Point) has been selected to the Verizon Academic All-District V First-Team. The senior guard was also named to the first-team last season, when the award was sponsored by GTE.

Grubbs leads the Foresters and the Midwest Conference in scoring and free throw percentage. Her 21.2 points per game rank her 15th in scoring and her 83.7% accuracy rate from the free throw line places her 20th at the national level. She also ranks first on the team in minutes played (29.7 per game), assists (3.6) and steals (2.7).

The classroom has also been a successful setting for Grubbs throughout her college career. She currently holds a 3.70 cumulative grade point average and has nearly completed a double-major in biology and education. Her increased success on the basketball court as a senior has not taken away from her academic performance, as evidenced by her 3.75 GPA in the 2000 fall semester.

The athletes selected to the first team will represent the district on the national ballot. The Verizon Academic All-America Women's Basketball Team will be announced on Thursday, March 15th.

Both the district and national teams are chosen by selected members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
