Lake Forest Will Host First Two Rounds of NCAA Tournament
Foresters will take on Maryville University in round one

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The NCAA released the 2007 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament bracket Monday (February 26) and Lake Forest College was one of 16 sites selected to host this weekend’s (March 2-3) first two rounds. The Foresters will take on Maryville University (Mo.) in Friday night’s second game at 7:00 p.m. Washington University (Mo.) and Manchester College (Ind.) will play in a rematch of last year’s first-round match-up at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and the opening round winners will face off Saturday evening at 5:00.

Lake Forest (23-2) captured the 2006-07 Midwest Conference championship on Saturday (February 24) with a 64-56 victory over visiting Carroll College. The Foresters have won 17 consecutive games and are making the program’s fifth appearance in the NCA Tournament. The team entered last weekend’s MWC Championship Tournament ranked 16th in the nation by D3hoops.com and 19th in the USA Today ESPN Top 25 Poll.

Maryville (22-5) won their fourth consecutive St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season title and earned a berth in the NCAA Tourney with a 66-52 triumph over Principia College in the conference tourney final on Saturday. It was the Saints’ 19th victory in a row and second straight SLIAC Tournament title. They are making their third NCAA Tournament appearance.

Washington (20-5) claimed its 17th University Athletic Association title and 10th in a row with an 80-75 victory over the University of Chicago on Saturday. The Bears have now claimed 17 league championships, including the last 10 in a row. The team began last weekend ranked as high as 10th in the nation and is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the 18th straight year with four national titles to their credit.

Manchester (21-6) recorded a 70-69 victory over Transylvania University in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference final on Saturday. The Spartans claimed their first HCAC title in 20 years and third overall. The team has won each of its last 15 contests and is making its third overall and second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Tickets for the games will be available beginning at 3:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday with the doors to the gymnasium opening at 4:00 p.m. The cost for admission is $6 for adults and $3 for senior citizens, students, and children.
