of the Year
Head Coach Jackie Slaats was named the conference's Coach of the Year by her peers for the second consecutive season and the third time in the seven-year history of the award. Slaats guided the Foresters to a 15-1 record in league play this season before hosting and winning the MWC Championship Tournament. She has a career record of 134-45 (.749) in conference games and an overall mark of 257-88 (.745) entering this year's NCAA Tournament. With her selection this year as the top player in the league, senior guard Alison Grubbs (Cullom, IL/Tri-Point) has been named MWC Player of the Year for the third time (also in 1998 and 2000) and to the All-MWC First Team following each of her four seasons. The league's highest scorer (21.0 ppg) and best free throw shooter (84.8%) is also listed in the top 10 in three-point field goals made (2.25/game; 2nd), three-point field goal percentage (38.7%; 3rd), assists (3.69/game; 6th), steals (2.31/game; tied-6th), assist-to-turnover ratio (.94; 7th) and field goal percentage (45.6%; 10th). After being named to the Second Team last year, senior guard Karla Gribble (Mineral Point, WI/Mineral Point) was recognized as a First-Teamer this season. The all-purpose player finished the season ranked 24th in the conference in scoring with 8.8 points per contest. She also appeared among the leaders in steals (2.31/game; tied-6th), free throw percentage (75.6%; 7th) and three-point field goals made (.81/game; 13th). Sophomore forward Katie McCants (Menasha, WI/Menasha) was chosen as one of the league's best for the first time.
