Foresters Match Program's Single-Game Scoring Record at Knox
Team shoots 62.1 percent from the field, wins by 65

GALESBURG, Ill. - The Lake Forest College women's basketball team posted a 108-43 victory at Knox College on Saturday (January 10). The Foresters raised their overall record on the year to 4-6 and Midwest Conference mark to 1-2. The Prairie Fire fell to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the league.

Five Foresters scored in double figures, led by junior center Lisa Nassin (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) with 21 points. She made all nine of her field goal attempts and each of her three free throws in just 16 minutes of play. Senior guard Susan Hedrick (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) was next on the team with a career-high 15 points. She was 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from three-point range. Junior forward Claire Schmidt (Kankakee, Ill./Bishop McNamara) finished with 14 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Sophomore guard Emily Weber (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills School) shot 8-for-8 from the foul line and scored 11 points. Junior guard Tracy Rainey (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) registered 10 points four assists, and three steals. Fellow junior guard Paige Keasler (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) pulled down a game-high nine rebounds in the contest. Kate Grunauer (Chicago, Ill./Marist), another junior guard, dished out 10 assists, the most by a Forester in 20 years and the third-highest total in team history, and added six steals.

Lake Forest shot 62.1 percent from the floor, the highest field goal percentage in team history. The Foresters 66.7 percent (8-for-12) shooting from beyond the arc was the second-best long-range shooting performance in program history and the visitors knocked down 18 of 21 foul shots. Knox shot just 29.5 percent from the field, 3-for-13 from three-point range, and 14-for-23 from the line. Lake Forest more than doubled the Prairie Fire's rebound total (45-22) and committed 19 turnovers while forcing 37.

Knox scored the game's first basket and the Foresters led just 10-9 after five minutes of play. Lake Forest then outscored the home team 37-9 to finish the first half with a 47-18 advantage. The visitors then scored 61 points in the second half, the highest total for a half in recorded team history.

Lake Forest will host Grinnell College at 5:00 Tuesday evening (January 13). The Foresters will also play at home next weekend (January 16-17), taking on Beloit College on Friday night and Lawrence University the following afternoon.
