January 13th, 2001 Contact: Scott Rucker, SID Ripon Becomes Latest Victim as Win Streak Hits Seven
Senior guard Alison Grubbs (Cullom, IL/Tri-Point) was the Foresters' leading scorer with 27 points in just 29 minutes. Grubbs made 9 of 13 field goal attempts, including 2-of-5 from behind the three-point arc, and added 4 assists and a pair of steals. Fellow senior guard Karla Gribble (Mineral Point, WI/Mineral Point) turned in one of her best games of the 2000-01 with a season-high 15 points and a game and season-high 9 rebounds. The third Forester in double-figures was sophomore forward Katie McCants (Menasha, WI/Menasha) with 13 points. In Lake Forest's three games this week, McCants averaged 17.0 points per game, shot 68.8% from the field, pulled down 5.3 rebounds per contest and set (and then tied) a career-high for assists in a game with 4. Freshman guard Abbey Jennings (Logan, OH/Logan) played just 13 minutes on Saturday, but still managed to make 4 of 6 field goal attempts and score a career-high 9 points. Jennings was one of seven Foresters to make at least half of their shots from the field. Lake Forest shot 54.0% as a team and held Ripon to just 36.8%. The Foresters also recorded 15 steals, forced Ripon into 26 turnovers and out-rebounded the home team 41-36. Lake Forest never trailed in the game and led by as many as 25 points in the first half. The second-half lead was never less than 19 and grew to as many as 35. The Foresters will put both winning streaks on the line at Monmouth College on Tuesday (January 16th) at 6:00 PM. Monmouth is currently tied for third in the MWC with a 4-1 league record, trailing first-place Lake Forest by a single game.
