Kim Magee led all rebounders with 9 and matched her career-high with 16 points.
MONMOUTH, IL - The winning streak has now reached eight games for the Lake Forest College women's basketball team as they earned an 82-76 victory at Monmouth College Tuesday (January 16th) night. The triumph also extends the team's winning streak against Midwest Conference opponents to 12, dating back to last season.

The surprise star offensively was freshman forward Hayley O'Donnell (McFarland, WI/McFarland), who scored a game and career-high 25 points to go with a career-high 6 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and a steal. O'Donnell, whose previous high was just 5 points, shot 7-of-10 from the field and a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line.

The Foresters made 30 of their 40 free throw attempts in the game, including 13 from senior guard Alison Grubbs (Cullom, IL/Tri-Point) in 14 attempts. Grubbs scored 16 points in the game and added 5 rebounds, a team-high 6 assists and a game-high 4 steals.

For the first time this year Lake Forest had five players score in double-figures. Senior
forward Kim Magee (Lake Oswego, OR/Lake Oswego) matched her career-high with 16 points while pulling down a game-high 9 rebounds. Senior guard Karla Gribble (Mineral Point, WI/Mineral Point) and sophomore forward Katie McCants (Menasha, WI/Menasha) each chipped in 11 points and contributed to the team's 44-35 rebounding advantage with 7 apiece.

The Foresters were in the lead (9 to 8) for only ten seconds of the first half, and trailed by as many as seven before tying the game just before intermission. Lake Forest never trailed after the half and led by 13 (70-57) with just over seven minutes to go before Monmouth used a 13-3 run to cut the lead to three at 73-70. The Foresters scored the next six points and sealed the victory by making five of six free throw attempts in the game's final 40 seconds.

The Foresters' overall record now stands at 9-3 and includes a perfect 6-0 mark in the Midwest Conference. The defending MWC champs will face the league's second-place team on Friday night when they host St. Norbert College at 5:30 PM. St. Norbert, last year's MWC regular season champion, will enter the game with a 5-1 conference record this year.
