Lake Forest Routs M.S.O.E. in Non-Conference Play
All 14 Foresters in the game make at least one field goal

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester women’s basketball team routed Milwaukee School of Engineering 77-48 at home Tuesday (January 16) night. The non-conference victory raised Lake Forest’s record on the year to 11-2. The Raiders fell to 6-12 on the season.

Fourteen Foresters saw action in the game, although none for more than 20 minutes. All 14 scored at least two points, led by senior guard Eileen Walsh (Hickory Hills, Ill./Amos Alonzo Stagg) and junior guard Beth Lucas (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) with nine apiece. Junior forward Shaina Sullivan (Winfield, Ill./West Chicago) scored eight points and tied for game-high honors with seven rebounds. Four players tied for the Lake Forest lead with three assists each and Walsh recorded a team-high three steals.

The Foresters shot 49.2 percent from the floor and 4-for-15 from three-point range. M.S.O.E. shot just 32.1 percent from the field and made one of 11 shots from beyond the arc. Both teams were 11-for-14 from the free throw line. Lake Forest out-rebounded the Raiders 47-25 but committed 24 turnovers while forcing 21.

Lake Forest trailed 6-3 before rattling off 14 straight points and 21 of the game’s next 23. The home team extended the lead to 24 points (47-23) by halftime.

The Foresters increased the advantage to 30 points early in the second half and 32 late in the game.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play this weekend (January 19-20). The Foresters will play at league-leading Carroll College Friday evening at 5:30 and at Ripon College at 2:00 the next afternoon.
