LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's basketball team increased its winning streak to five games with a pair of Midwest Conference wins over the weekend. Wins over Carroll College and Lawrence University improved the Foresters' overall record to 10-3 and a perfect 6-0 in the league.

Senior guard Sherry Wagner (Chicago, IL/Mother McAuley) poured in a career-high 22 points on 8-9 shooting and added five rebounds as the hosts defeated Carroll College on Friday (January 16) 67-57. A trio of juniors reached double figures in scoring. Guard Kandyce Green (Chicago, IL/Marian Catholic) scored 13 points, forward Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) added a dozen, and guard Kristy Freeman (Palatine, IL/Palatine) finished with 11 and a game-high five assists.

The Foresters, who outrebounded the Pioneers 35-26, trailed 31-29 at halftime, but utilized an 11-0 run four minutes into the second period to build a 49-39 lead. The visitors cut the lead to three with less than four minutes left in the game, but Lake Forest connected on its final seven free throws to seal the win.

On Saturday (January 17), Lake Forest knocked off Lawrence University 84-70. On 8-11 shooting from the field and perfect shooting from the free throw line (5-5), Clerkin led the Foresters with 21 points and added five boards. After 13 games, she leads the team in field goal shooting (61.8%), scoring (15.0 points per game), and rebounding (7.3). Green finished with 20 points and four steals. With half of her points coming from the free throw line, the junior became only the fifth player in program history to shoot 10-10 from the line. She also added a team-high four steals. Green is third on the team in free throw shooting (80.8%) and leads the team in steals (22). Guards Freeman and Wagner also reached double figures in scoring, netting 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The Foresters shot 50.9% from the field and connected on 92% of their free throws. The Vikings trailed 65-62 with four minutes remaining in the contest, but back-to-back three pointers from Freeman and Wagner, and a Clerkin three-point play expanded the lead to a dozen with 2:17 to play. Finally, six free throws down the stretch from Green sealed the 14-point win.
