Lake Forest Defeats Visiting Lawrence to Extend Win Streak to Four
Claire Schmidt and Lisa Nassin lead the team with a dozen points apiece

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester women's basketball team won its fourth consecutive game Saturday afternoon (January 17), a 66-39 rout of visiting Lawrence University. Lake Forest is now 7-6 overall this season and 4-2 in Midwest Conference play. The Vikings are still winless in 13 games, including six league contests.

Junior forward Claire Schmidt (Kankakee, Ill./Bishop McNamara) and junior center Lisa Nassin (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) led the Foresters with 12 points each. They conbined to shoot 11-for-19 from the floor. Schmidt also led the squad with three assists while. Nassin and freshman forward Tatiana Moore (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) each pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Sophomore Aimee Lockwood (Cudahy, Wis./Cudahy) led all players in the game with four steals.

Lake Forest shot 44.3 percent from the floor while the Vikings made just one-fourth of their field goal attempts. The home team was also 1-for-10 from three-point range and 11-for-16 from the free throw line. Lawrence also connected just once from beyond the arc in 17 tries and shot 8-for-13 from the line. The Foresters held a commanding 52-32 edge in rebounds but committed 22 turnovers, two more than the visitors.

The Foresters scored the game's first nine points and the lead reached double-figures less than six minutes into the contest. Lawrence battled back and trailed by just four with less than five minutes to play in the half. Lake Forest, however, scored the final six points of the period and led 30-20 at halftime.

A 21-2 run by the Foresters extended their lead from 12 to a game-high 31 points with less than eight minutes to play and Lake Forest led by no fewer than 22 points the rest of the way.

The Foresters will be on the road next weekend (January 23-24), playing at Ripon College at 5:30 Friday evening and Beloit College at 2:00 the following afternoon. Live video webcasts of all league contests are available at www.midwestconference.tv.
