LAKE FOREST, IL - With their 78-68 victory at home over Lawrence University, the Lake Forest College women's basketball team extended two rather long winning streaks. The Foresters have now won 10 straight games this season and, dating back to last season, they have beaten 14 consecutive Midwest Conference opponents.

All five of Lake Forest's starters reached double-figures in either points or rebounds. Senior Alison Grubbs (Cullom, IL/Tri-Point) led the squad with 19 points, shooting 7-of-7 from the free throw line. The game's leading rebounder was senior forward Kim Magee (Lake Oswego, OR/Lake Oswego) with 10 boards to go along with her 7 points, 3 assists and game-high 5 steals.

Senior guard Karla Gribble (Mineral Point, WI/Mineral Point) scored all 12 of her points in a first half in which the Foresters outscored Lawrence 50-32. Gribble made 3 of 7 three-point attempts and added 7 rebounds, 5 assists and a pair of steals. Junior guard Jenni Klusman (New Berlin, WI/New Berlin West) and sophomore forward Katie McCants (Menasha, WI/Menasha) each scored 11 points, with Klusman connecting on 3 of 4 three-point shots.

Lake Forest continued to take advantage of numerous trips to the free throw line, making 22 of 28 shots from the charity stripe. In the team's three victories this week, they made 72 of 94 free throws (76.6%) while their opponents made only 42 shots in 65 trips to the line (64.6%). The Foresters have also been crashing the boards lately, having out-rebounded eight straight opponents, including Lawrence by a 46-38 margin.

Lawrence started the scoring with a lay-up just 5 seconds into the game before. Lake Forest responded with 10 straight points to begin a 16-3 run. The visitors pulled to within 6 three times in the first half, which ended with the Foresters opening up an 18-point lead, 50-32. Lawrence never got closer than 13 points the rest of the way and trailed by as many as 27.

Lake Forest is now 11-3 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the Midwest Conference. They will begin the second half of the conference season next Friday (January 26th) at second-place Carroll College. The game against the 11-3 (7-1 MWC) Pioneers will begin at 6:00 PM. The following day the Foresters will travel to St. Norbert College, whose league record is 6-2.
