Foresters Rebound With Rout of Knox

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's basketball team hosted and defeated Knox College Tuesday (January 21) by a score of 85-48. The victory raised the Foresters' overall record to12-1 and their Midwest Conference mark to 5-1. Knox fell to 4-7 overall and 1-5 in league play.

Senior forward Katie McCants (Menasha, WI/Menasha) played just 18 minutes but led all players with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists. The team captain shot 8-for-12 from the field for the game, raising her percentage for the season to .574. She is just 15 points shy of 1,000 for her career.

Sophomore guards Kandyce Green (Chicago, IL/Marian Catholic) and Kristy Freeman (Palatine, IL/Palatine) each scored 10 points and dished out two assists. Green added three steals while Freeman shot 2-for-4 from three-point range.

Lake Forest shot 49.2% from the floor during the game while Knox connected just 28.9% of the time. The Foresters out0rebounded the Prairie Fire 47-29 and forced the visitors into 33 turnovers.

The home team scored at least seven straight point three times in the first half, which ended with Lake Forest leading 47-26. The margin continued to grow after intermission and reached 42 before the visitors scored the game's final five points.

The Foresters will play at home twice this weekend (January 24-25). They will host Beloit College (4-9, 1-5 MWC) Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. and Ripon College (13-1, 7-0) at 3:00 Saturday afternoon.
