BELOIT, Wis. - After falling at Ripon College the night before, the Forester women's basketball team won 76-60 at Beloit College Saturday afternoon (January 24). Lake Forest raised its overall record on the season to 8-7 and Midwest Conference mark to 5-3. The Buccaneers fell to 10-6 overall and 7-2 in the league. Both of Beloit's MWC losses were to the Foresters.

Junior center Lisa Nassin (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) led Lake Forest with 18 points. It was the fourth game in a row that Nassin led or tied for the team lead in scoring. She shot 8-for-9 from the field in the game and pulled down six rebounds. Junior guard Tracy Rainey (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) and senior guard Susan Hedrick (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) also reached double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively, and combined for five three-pointers. Rainey led the visitors with eight rebounds and added three assists. Hedrick tied for the team lead with four assists and recorded a pair of steals.

The Foresters shot 48.4 percent from the field, made a season-high nine three-pointers in 27 attempts, and knocked down seven of 10 free throws. Beloit shot 46.5 percent from the floor, 2-for-14 from beyond the arc, and 18-for-27 from the line. Lake Forest out-rebounded the home team 37-26 and committed 16 of the game's 33 turnovers.

The score was tied at 11 early in the game before an 8-0 run put the Foresters ahead for good. The lead reached double figures for the first time with six-and-a-half minutes remaining in the first half and Lake Forest led 43-28 at intermission.

Beloit trimmed the margin to 12 points three times early in the second half and 11 on two occasions later in the period but would get no closer. A 9-1 Lake Forest run during the final four-and-a-half minutes extended the lead to a game-high 19 points before a Buccaneer basket and free throw closed out the scoring.
