Victory at St. Norbert is Slaats's 250th and School Record 12th In a Row
Midwest Conference lead up to 2½ games

Head Coach Jackie Slaats has a career record of 250-87.
DE PERE, WI - Lake Forest College women's basketball coach Jackie Slaats could not have scripted a better weekend for her Foresters. After defeating Carroll (previously 7-1 and in 2nd place in the Midwest Conference) on the road Friday (January 26th) night, they traveled to St. Norbert (7-2 MWC record) on Saturday (January 27th) and came away with a 68-59 victory. For Slaats, Saturday's win is the 250th of her career against just 87 losses (74.2%). For the team, the two triumphs over the weekend give them 12 in a row, establishing a new school record for consecutive victories.

Senior guard Alison Grubbs (Cullom, IL/Tri-Point) scored 12 of her game-high 22 points on 13 free throw attempts. She also added 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 36 minutes of play. The MWC's leading scorer (and 13th in the nation entering the week) totaled 61 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals on the weekend.

Fellow senior guard Karla Gribble (Mineral Point, WI/Mineral Point) scored 13 for Lake Forest while pulling down a game-high 8 rebounds. Senior forward Kim Magee (Lake Oswego, OR/Lake Oswego) was next on the squad with 10 points and 6 boards. Seven other Foresters scored between 2 and 6 points.

Lake Forest made 27 of 38 free throw attempts (71.1%), marking the tenth game this season and sixth in a row that they've made at least 20 shots from the charity stripe. Only twice this season have the Foresters made less free throws in a game than their opponent. Another edge for the visitors in this game was on the boards, where Lake Forest grabbed 46 rebounds to just 31 for the Green Knights.

After a St. Norbert free throw opened the scoring 40 seconds into the game, Lake Forest responded with a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to open up an eight-point lead. The home team was able to cut the gap to two points (27-25) just once in the first half before the teams headed for the locker rooms with the Foresters on top 38-30. The lead shrunk to four points three times after intermission before Lake Forest used an 11-0 run to go ahead by 17 (59-42) with 7:02 to play. St. Norbert scored the game's next nine points before the Foresters made 9 of 10 free throw attempts to seal the victory.

The win, coupled with Carroll's 66-61loss at home to Illinois College on Saturday (January 27th), gives Lake Forest (13-3 overall, 10-0 MWC) a two-and-a-half-game lead in the Midwest Conference over Ripon College (8-7, 7-2 MWC), who they will host next Friday (February 2nd) at 5:30 PM.
