Katie McCants Named Midwest Conference Player of the Week
Senior leads team to three wins, scores 1,000th career point
  

Katie McCants led Lake Forest to a 3-0 week in MWC play.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College women's basketball player Katie McCants (Menasha, WI/Menasha) was named Midwest Conference Player of the Week Tuesday (January 28) for her contributions to the Foresters' 3-0 week against MWC opponents. The team defeated Knox College 85-48 on Tuesday (January 21), Beloit College 84-61 on Friday (January 24), and Ripon College 66-55 on Saturday (January 25).

The senior forward led all players Tuesday with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and a career-high five assists. She shot 8-of-12 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line in just 18 minutes of play.

On Friday, McCants scored a season-high 19 points, including the 1,000th of her career. She was again 8-of-12 from the floor, pulled down five rebounds, and added two assists and four steals. Only four others in the history of the program have reached the 1,000-point mark in their careers.

Ripon entered Saturday's game unbeaten (7-0) in MWC play but fell to McCants and the Foresters. The team captain scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds in 33 minutes of play.

For the week she averaged 17.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. She connected on 20 of 34 field goal attempts (.588), two of three from beyond the arc, and nine of 11 free throws (.818).
