for the sixth time this year.
GALESBURG, IL - The Lake Forest College women’s basketball team recorded a 77-49 victory at Knox College Tuesday (January 31) evening, completing the season sweep over the Prairie Fire. The Foresters, who are now 12-6 overall and 6-5 in Midwest Conference play, had defeated Knox 77-48 at home earlier in the season. The loss dropped Knox’s record to 3-15 overall and 1-10 in the MWC.

Senior guard Devon Liebl (Brookfield, WI/Milwaukee Pius XI) led Lake Forest’s balanced scoring attack with 15 points. She shot 5-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from three-point range. Junior forward Andrea Durante (Bloomingdale, IL/Lake Park) was next on the squad with 10 points and she led the team with seven rebounds. Sophomore center Nicole Baich (Westchester, IL/Nazareth Academy) and junior guard Lizzy Bauer (Madison, WI/Madison West) each had a team-high four assists and Baich added three steals. Eleven of the 12 Foresters who played in the game scored and eight finished with at least five points.

Lake Forest shot 44.6% from the floor and 8-for-18 (44.4%) from three-point range. The visitors also knocked down 11 of 19 free throws (57.9%). Knox shot just 26.4% from the field, 2-for-13 (15.4%) from beyond the arc, and 19-for-26 (73.1%) from the foul line. The Prairie Fire out-rebounded the Foresters 48-37 but committed 30 turnovers, nearly twice as many as their guests (16).

The Foresters scored the game’s first 10 points and used an 8-0 run later in the opening period to take a 30-9 lead. Knox closed the gap to 14 points but trailed 42-22 at halftime. Lake Forest extended the lead to as many as 37 points during the second half.

Lake Forest will be back on the road this weekend (February 3-4) for a pair of Midwest Conference games. The Foresters will play at Carroll College at 5:30 Friday evening and at St. Norbert College at 2:00 Saturday afternoon.
