Senior guard Devon Liebl (Brookfield, WI/Milwaukee Pius XI) led all players with 19 points and shot 5-for-6 from three-point range. She also added seven rebounds, two steals, and a team-high four assists in the contest. Junior forward Andrea Durante (Bloomingdale, IL/Lake Park) was next on the squad with 10 points. Junior guard Lizzy Bauer (Madison, WI/Madison West) and freshman guard Susan Hedrick (Geneva, IL/Geneva) each recorded three steals and freshman center Kathleen Dewan (Oak Forest, IL/Oak Forest) pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
The Foresters shot just 38.2% from the floor but held Trinity to 31.8%. The home team knocked down a season-high nine of 20 three-point field goal attempts and six of eight free throws. The Trojans shot just 2-for-9 from beyond the arc and 18-for-25 from the foul line. Lake Forest out-rebounded its guests 48-36 and committed 26 turnovers while forcing 35 and recording a season-high 19 steals.
Trinity led by as many as four points three times early in the contest. The Foresters took their first lead of the game with 14:14 to play in the opening period and extended the advantage to seven points twice before halftime, including the 40-33 edge they took into the locker room at intermission.
The margin reached double figures when Liebl knocked down a three-pointer with 15:29 to play. The difference was 11 points (52-41) with just less than nine minutes remaining before a 15-2 Lake Forest run put the game out of reach.
The Foresters will resume Midwest Conference play Saturday (January 7) afternoon at home against Monmouth College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
