Foresters 3-0 in MWC After Rout of Monmouth

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester women's basketball team remained unbeaten in Midwest Conference play with a 74-47 victory at home over Monmouth College Wednesday (January 7) night. Lake Forest is now 7-3 overall. The Fighting Scots fell to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Juniors Kandyce Green (Chicago, IL/Marian Catholic) and Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) each scored a game-high 14 points in the victory. Green was 4-for-5 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in 14 minutes of play. Clerkin shot 5-for-8 from the field and 4-for-6 from the line while pulling down a team-high seven rebounds.

Junior Kristen Feeney (Brookfield, IL/Lyons Township) came off the bench to score a career-high 11 points. She made both of her field goal attempts, was 7-for-9 from the charity stripe, and matched her career-best with five rebounds. Sixteen different Foresters saw action in the game and a dozen scored at least two points.

Lake Forest shot 47.8% from the field and 70.3% from the free throw line. The Scots connected on just 22.2% of their field goal attempts and 55.6% of free throws. The Foresters held a 50-38 edge in rebounds and the teams combined for 48 fouls and 41 turnovers.

The home team got off to a fast start by scoring the game's first 11 points. The Lake Forest lead reached as many as 22 points during the first half, which ended with the Foresters leading 43-24.

Lake Forest scored the first five points of the second half and led by at least 21 points the rest of the game. The largest margin was 31 points (64-33) with nine minutes remaining.

The Foresters will be off this weekend before traveling to Knox College (4-4, 1-1 MWC) next Tuesday (January 13) for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. Lake Forest defeated the Prairie Fire 72-39 at home on December 3.
