Tamlyn Tills Named Lake Forest College’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach
Tills moves north from Concordia University Chicago

Tamlyn Tills
LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College Athletic Director Jackie Slaats officially announced on Monday (March 31) that Tamlyn Tills will replace her as the school’s next head women’s basketball coach. Tills is expected to begin working at the College in mid-April and, in addition to her coaching duties, will be an advisor/coach for the club golf program and assume administrative responsibilities within the department.

Tills recently completed her sixth season at Concordia University Chicago and her 13th as a collegiate head coach. Her team finished the 2007-08 campaign 17-10 overall and 13-5 in Northern Athletic Conference play. The Cougars reached the semifinals of the conference tournament and came within one win of the program’s record for victories in a season. In addition to her coaching duties, Tills was an adjunct professor at Concordia Chicago and also served as the school’s Associate Athletic Director for one year.

Prior to her time at Concordia Chicago, Tills was a head coach for three seasons (1999-2002) at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and four (1992-96) at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was also an assistant coach at the Division I level for three years each at Marquette University (1987-90) and California State University-Fullerton (1996-99). Her coaching career began at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she was the athletic director and volleyball and basketball coach from 1985-87.

Tills was also a successful player, scoring more than 1,000 career points at both Milwaukee Lutheran High School and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She was an All-American and part of a national championship team at La Crosse and is a member of the school’s Wall of Fame.

At Lake Forest, Tills will direct a team that was 21-4 during the 2007-08 season and 45-7 in the last two years combined. “I’m extremely excited and honored to take over such a successful program,” Tills states. “I am also looking forward to leading the Foresters to many more victories in the future and carrying on their strong tradition.”

“I am very pleased to have Tamlyn Tills join our staff as head coach of the women's basketball program,” commented Slaats. “Having known Coach Tills for almost 20 years, I am confident she has the knowledge, experience, and personality it takes to continue the team’s success both on and off the court.”

Slaats was the team’s head coach for 22 years before resigning from that position at the conclusion of the 2007-08 season. She remains the College’s Athletic Director and has taken on a new role as Senior Advisor to the President.
