Sophomore forward shot 63.6% from the field in the MWC Tournament

Shannon Clerkin was the Foresters' leading scorer in eight of the last 11 games.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College basketball player Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) was named Forester Athlete of the Week for her stellar performance in the 2003 Midwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday and Saturday (February 28-March 1). The 5-10 forward led the Foresters in scoring in the championship game, a thrilling double-overtime loss (77-75) at St. Norbert College.

In 17 minutes of play in Friday's 60-49 semifinal win over Ripon College, Clerkin scored 8 points on 4-for-8 shooting and grabbed 3 rebounds.

A sprained ankle suffered the night before couldn't keep Clerkin out of Saturday's starting lineup. It took just 38 seconds for the Foresters' leading scorer to let everyone know she was okay. She made her team's first bucket of the game and went on to score 23 points, including the Foresters' last six in the first overtime. For the game, Clerkin, a First Team All-Conference selection, was 10-for-14 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. She also pulled down seven rebounds.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
