Foresters Defeat I.I.T. in 1st Round of 2001 Forester Tip-Off Tournament
Lake Forest will play Augustana in Championship tomorrow
  

Freshman Shannon Clerkin led the Foresters with 14 points.

Leading the Foresters in scoring was freshman forward Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld), who scored 14 points and pulled down a game-high 6 rebounds. Another freshman, guard Kristy Freeman (Palatine, IL/Palatine), scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Both Clerkin and Freeman played 15 minutes in the game. Fourteen Foresters played between 10 and 16 minutes and all 16 players that got on the court scored at least one point.

Lake Forest scored the game's first six points and led 15-2 early in the first half. The lead grew to 31 points (47-16) when the two teams headed into the locker room for halftime.

The game would get no closer after intermission as the home team had two 6-0 runs as well as an 8-0 and 10-0 run in the second half.

In the early semifinal, Augustana College shot 53.7% from the field to defeat the Milwaukee School of Engineering by a score of 90-53.

In tomorrow's Tournament Consolation Game at 1:00 pm, I.I.T. and M.S.O.E. will play for third place in the tourney. The game will feature the top three scorers from Friday's semifinals - Shari Gorr (18 points) and Laurel Wipperfurth (15) of M.S.O.E. and Corrine Pahr (15) of I.I.T.

In the Championship Game, which begins at 3:00 pm. Host Lake Forest will take on Augustana College, who had four players score in double-figures against M.S.O.E. It will be the first-ever meeting between the Foresters and Vikings.
