The Lake Forest College women's basketball team opened play by winning its own four-team invitational last weekend.

The Foresters, an NCAA Division III power, beat Aurora University 85-68 in the first game and Judson College of Elgin 77-66 in the finals.

In the championship game, Alison Grubbs scored 19 points. Libertyville High grad Katie Kerrigan had 4 points and 2 rebounds, while Warren grad Nikki Thompson had 1 point and 5 rebounds.

In the win over Aurora, Melissa Schneider had 16 points and Katie McCants grabbed 10 boards. Kerrigan had 12 points and 4 boards while Thompson had 6 points.
