OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Lake Forest College women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon (November 29), a 43-41 decision at UW-Oshkosh. The Foresters fell to 3-1 while the Titans raised their record to 2-3.

Lake Forest senior forward Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) came off the bench to lead all players in the contest with a career-high 16 points. She shot 5-for-9 from the field, made all six of her free throws, and also led the squad with eight rebounds. Junior center Lisa Nassin (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) was the only other Forester in double figures with 10 points. She shot 4-for-5 from the floor and made two of four free throws. Sophomore guard Kelsey James' (Oak Forest, Ill./Marist) five assists and freshman forward Tatiana Moore's (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) five steals were also game-highs.

Lake Forest shot 31.9 percent from the field, missed each of five three-point field goal attempts, and knocked down 11 of 17 free throws. Oshkosh shot 36 percent from the floor, made three of 14 shots from beyond the arc, and missed just one of five free throws. The Foresters were out-rebounded 37-30 and committed 22 turnovers while forcing 25.

A 12-2 Oshkosh run early in the game turned a 6-4 Forester lead into an eight-point deficit. The Titans' lead grew to as many as 10 points late in the first period before free throws by Cretacci and Moore cut it to six (26-20) at halftime.

The home team scored the first four points of the second half to regain their 10-point advantage but a 10-2 Forester run brought the visitors back to within two (32-30) with 14:47 remaining. Lake Forest trimmed the margin to one with less than 10 minutes to play and eventually tied the game at 41 with 1:25 left on the clock. After an unsuccessful possession for both teams, the Titans drew a foul while pulling down an offensive rebound with 1.1 seconds left and made both free throws to win the game.

Lake Forest will begin Midwest Conference play next weekend (December 5-6) with rematches of the Foresters' 2008 MWC Championship Tournament games. The team will play at St. Norbert College at 5:00 Friday evening and at Carroll University Saturday afternoon at 2:00. Lake Forest defeated Carroll in the semifinals of last year's conference championship tourney before falling at St. Norbert in the title game.
