Lake Forest Drops Pair of Games at UW-River Falls
Team's record drops to 4-5-1

Nichole Greco scored her first career goal on Saturday.
RIVER FALLS, WI - The Forester women's hockey team found out this weekend (November 30th-December 1st) why UW-River Falls was picked in a preseason poll to win the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. The Falcons defeated Lake Forest 5-3 Friday night and 10-2 Saturday afternoon in River Falls, Wisconsin.

On Friday, the home team opened the scoring with a power play goal with just 36 seconds remaining in the first period. The Foresters responded with an unassisted Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL) goal just seven seconds later. The goal was the 14th of the season for Slater, just one shy of her team-leading total from a year ago.

Lake Forest took the lead less than two minutes into the second period on freshman Lindsey Wild's (Inver Grove Heights, MN) second goal of the 2001-02 campaign, with freshman Robyn Shea (St. John's, Newfoundland) recording the assist, her second of the season. River Falls tied the score on another power play goal later in the period, which ended with the team's tied at two.

The Falcons regained the lead at the 2:16 mark of the third period and sophomore Lydia Groskin (Stowe, VT) tied the score with an unassisted goal, her fourth of the year, less than a minute later. Both scores came with five players on the ice for both teams. The home team went ahead for good at the 16:44 mark and added an insurance goal with 1:45 to play in the game.

On Saturday, the first period ended with the Falcons ahead 3-0.

Forester freshman Michelle Pickles (Crown Point, IN) scored her second goal of 2001-02 with assists going to Wild (6th) and Shea (3rd) to open the second period's scoring. Unfortunately for Lake Forest, that scoring would include three more goals from UW-River Falls.

Freshman Nichole Greco (Franklin Park, IL) recorded her first goal of her career in the third period, with assists going to Wild (7th) and Slater (2nd). River Falls scored four more times in the third.

After playing their last six games on the road, the Foresters will finally play again at home next weekend (December 7-8th) when they host UW-Stevens Point at 2:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
