Foresters Fall at Nation’s Ninth- and 10th-Ranked Teams

SUPERIOR, WI - The Lake Forest College women’s hockey team dropped a pair of games at nationally-ranked teams over the weekend (December 3-4). The Foresters fell 3-0 at #10 UW-River Falls on Friday and 4-1 at #9 UW-Superior on Saturday. The team is now 3-4-3 overall on the year and 0-3-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association contests.

Lake Forest and River Falls were scoreless until the Falcons finally lit the lamp with a power play goal at the 15:40 mark of Friday’s second period. The home team added scores at 3:40 and 8:25 in the third, with the latter also coming on the power play.

Superior took the early lead on Saturday with the first of four goals by Erin Kegley at the 12:02 mark of the first period. Lake Forest tied the score at 9:44 in the second on sophomore Katie Snowden’s (Toronto, ON/Willowdale Redwings) first goal of the season. Juniors Lil Caligiuri (Wheaton, IL/Culver Academy) and Erin McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids) were each credited with an assist. The home team regained the lead with 1:16 remaining in the period and scored two more in the third to put the game away.

Sophomore Sally Bevis (Huntington, NY/North American Hockey Academy) recorded 34 saves on Friday and 44 on Saturday and has now saved at least 90% of opponents shots on goal in each of her last eight games. She is 3-3-3 on the season with a 2.18 goals against average and .928 save percentage.

The Foresters will not play again in 2004. The team’s next scheduled contest is at home on Monday, January 3, against Bowdoin College at 2:00 p.m.
