STEVENS POINT, WI - The Lake Forest College women’s hockey team remained in first place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association standings with a 2-2 tie Tuesday (December 6) night at UW-Stevens Point, the nation’s sixth-ranked team. The Foresters are now 9-1-2 overall this season with a nine-game unbeaten streak, the longest in the country. The squad also owns a league-best 3-0-2 NCHA record. The Pointers are now 5-2-2 overall and 2-1-2 in conference play.

After a scoreless opening period, Stevens Point took the lead at 7:49 in the second. Lake Forest tied the score when freshman Dayna Kanis (Georgetown, ON/Etobicoke Dolphins) assisted sophomore Courtney DeHoey (Chatham, ON/Bluewater Jr. Hawks) at 10:24. The Pointers, however, regained the advantage with a goal at 13:38 and led 2-1 after two periods.

The only goal of the third stanza occurred less than a second before the buzzer sounded to end regulation. With the goalie pulled and an extra attacker on the ice, DeHoey was able to get control of the puck and send it over the goal line at 19:59 for her ninth score of the season.

Junior goaltender Sally Bevis (Huntington, NY/North American Hockey Academy) recorded 39 saves in the contest, including four in the five-minute overtime period to preserve the tie. She is now 7-1-2 on the year with a .915 save percentage and 2.15 goals against average.

Lake Forest will not play again until traveling to Hamilton College, Utica College, and Elmira College for non-conference games on January 4, 5, and 7, respectively. The Foresters will resume league play the following weekend (January 14-15) at Finlandia University and UW-Superior.
