LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester women's hockey team split a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games at home over the weekend (December 5-6). Lake Forest fell 3-0 to UW-River Falls, the seventh-ranked team in the nation, Friday night before defeating UW-Eau Claire 4-3 in overtime on Saturday. The Foresters are now 5-4-1 overall and 3-3-1 in conference play. River Falls raised its overall record to 6-1-0 and NCHA mark to 4-1-0. Eau Claire is now 6-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the league.

After a scoreless opening period on Friday, River Falls got on the scoreboard at the 2:24 mark of the second. The Falcons doubled their lead at 14:23 and added another insurance goal at 7:10 in the third.

Lake Forest struck first on Saturday, netting the only goal of the opening period at 10:20. It was the first of the season for junior Naomi Paterson (Ingersoll, Ontario/London Devilettes) and was assisted by freshman Melissa Kravich (Wilmette, Ill./Gustavus College) and sophomore Lynn Switaj (Avon Lake, Ohio/Ohio Flames).

Freshman Mira Trebilcock (South Porcupine, Ontario/Trinity College School) scored a power play goal seven minutes into the second period to make the score 2-0. Her fifth of the year was assisted by junior Courtney Bean (Peoria, Ill./Team Illinois). The Blugolds pulled back to within a goal at 8:24 but the home team regained its two-goal advantage on another power play score by sophomore Sam Herron (Clinton Township, Mich./Victory Honda) just 65 seconds later. Trebilcock and Kravich assisted on Herron's second goal this season.

Lake Forest's 3-1 lead disappeared quickly when Eau Claire converted a power play opportunity at 6:09 in the third period and scored again just 45 seconds later. Neither team was able to score again in regulation.

Freshman Molly Wallner (Chatham, Ill./Chicago Young Americans) picked a dramatic time to score her first career goal, lighting the lamp with 1:17 remaining in the five-minute sudden-death overtime period.

Sophomore goaltender Alyssa Wintermute (Belmont, Ontario/St. Thomas Panthers) recorded a season-high 35 saves in the contest to earn the victory.

Saturday's victory was Lake Forest final game of the fall semester. The Foresters will be in action again January 4-5 at home against Augsburg College. Sunday's game will begin at 3:00 p.m. and the team will return to the ice at 4:30 on Monday.
