St. Mary's Ruins Foresters' Season Finale
Taylor plays well in 2-0 loss

Theresa Taylor saved 34 of 36 shots on goal on Wednesday.
LAKE FOREST, IL - In the Forester women's hockey team's final game of the 2001-02 season, visiting St. Mary's University (MN) defeated Lake Forest by a score of 2-0. The loss gives the Foresters a final record of 6-17-1.

The Cardinals connected for their first goal at the 7:37 mark of the first period. Their second score came four minutes and 13 seconds into the second on the power play.

Sophomore goalie Theresa Taylor (Spartanburg, SC) recorded 34 saves in the game and finished the season with 665 stops.

Although the team's record was not as good as they had hoped going into the season, the first year for Head Coach Susie Bellizzi was far from a failure. Junior forward Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL) broke her own school record for goals in a season with 22. That total currently ranks tied for seventh in the nation and her 10 goals in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games rank her third going into the final weekend of league play. Freshman forward Lindsey Wild (Inver Grove Heights, MN) had 15 assists in 2001-02, one more than Slater's school record total from last year. Wild's 10 assists in NCHA games are the second-highest total in the conference.

The future looks even better for Forester fans as the team graduates just one senior and has only a pair of juniors on the roster. Next year's newcomers will be additions and not replacements as the school's newest varsity sport continues to grow and improve.
