LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester women's hockey team fell 2-1 to visiting UW-Stevens Point, the nation's 10th-ranked team, Saturday afternoon (February 14). Lake Forest is now 10-12-2 overall and 6-9-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Pointers raised their overall record to 13-4-5 and league mark to 11-4-3.

The Foresters got on the scoreboard first at the 6:30 mark of the opening period. The only goal of the period was sophomore Lynn Switaj's (Avon Lake, Ohio/Ohio Flames) fifth of the season, assisted by classmate Sam Herron (Clinton Township, Mich./Victory Honda) and junior Jamie Sauer (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines H.S.).

Lake Forest carried that lead all the way into the third period before Stevens Point tied the score three minutes into the final stanza. The Pointers then converted a power play opportunity with 2:51 left on the clock for the winning score.

Forester sophomore goaltender Alyssa Wintermute (Belmont, Ontario/St. Thomas Panthers) recorded 34 saves in the game, including 30 in the final two periods combined.

The Foresters wore pink jerseys (see photo below), donated by Randy Rogalsky, as a way to raise awareness and raise funds for the fight against cancer. Pink t-shirts were also sold at the game with proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society.

Lake Forest will close out the regular season next weekend at Concordia University Wisconsin. The teams will face off Friday night at 7:00 and the following afternoon at 2:00.
