Lake Forest Splits with UW-Eau Claire in Regular Season Finale
Foresters shut out Blugolds 1-0 on Friday, fall 9-2 on Saturday

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Foresters women's hockey team completed its regular season with a weekend (February 14-15) split at home against UW-Eau Claire. Lake Forest shut out the Blugolds 1-0 on Friday but dropped Saturday's contest, 9-2. The Foresters are 13-8-3 overall on the season and finish their Northern Collegiate Hockey Association schedule with a 6-8-2 record. Eau Claire's season ends with an 8-14-3 overall record and a 2-12-2 mark in the league.

Junior Theresa Taylor (Spartanburg, SC/National Sports Academy) tallied 25 saves Friday to notch her fourth shutout of the season. She stopped two shots on goal in the first period, 10 in the second, and 14 in the third.

The only goal of the game was scored by Forester senior Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL/Granite City Senior). She found the back of the net 36 seconds in to the third period. Freshman Emily Blegen (Elk River, MN/Fridley) was credited with the assist on Slater's 10th goal of the season.

Eau Claire took momentum early on Saturday and didn't look back. The visitors recorded three goals in the first period, two in the second, and three in the third before Lake Forest got on the scoreboard. Forester freshman Erin McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids) scored her sixth goal of the season off passes from freshman Nadia Sarkarat (Waukesha, WI/Wisconsin Wild) and junior Lydia Groskin (Stowe, VT/North American Hockey Academy) at the 8:03 mark. Blegen got her team-leading 16th goal of the year at 10:09 with freshman Lil Caligiuri (Wheaton, IL/Culver Academy) recording her team-high 12th assist. The Blugolds scored their final goal of the game with 4:30 remaining.

The Foresters will travel to UW-River Falls next weekend (February 21-22) for the NCHA Tournament. Lake Forest will be the #3-seed and play against #2-seed UW-Stevens Point in the 7:05 semifinal. The winner will take on the winner of #4 UW-Superior and #1 UW-River Falls in the championship game at 4:05 Saturday afternoon. The losers of Friday's semifinal games will play at 12:05 p.m. Saturday.
