LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women’s hockey team dropped a pair of close decisions to UW-River Falls over the weekend (February 14-15). The Falcons knocked off the home team 3-1 on Saturday and 1-0 on Sunday to escape with the sweep. The Foresters are now 2-20-1 overall this season and 0-14-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. River Falls raised its record to 15-8-1 overall and 11-4-1 in the league.

The Falcons’ Leah Baron scored in Saturday’s first period, Kelly Hurley in the second, and Lindsy Carlson in the third.

Sophomore Erin McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids) scored the Foresters’ only goal of the game, her fifth of the season, at the 16:08 mark of the third period. Erin’s sister, freshman Darby McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids), was credited with an assist, her first career point.

Senior Theresa Taylor (Spartanburg, SC/National Sports Academy) was in goal for Lake Forest in both games. She saved 44 of 47 Falcon shots on goal on Saturday and turned away 37 of 38 on Sunday in the final home game of her collegiate career. Taylor will graduate in May as the program’s only four-year letter winner and its all-time leader with nearly 2,500 saves. She also led the NCHA in saves in each of its first three years of existence and earned All-NCHA honors twice.

Lake Forest will close out the 2003-04 season at UW-Eau Claire (8-13-2, 3-11-0 NCHA) next weekend (February 20-21). The Foresters and Blugolds will face off at 7:05 both Friday and Saturday night.
