Lake Forest Drops a Pair to Nation’s Seventh-Ranked Team
Stevens Point defeats Foresters 3-1 and 4-0

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester women’s hockey team dropped a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games at home to UW-Stevens Point over the weekend (February 18-19). The Pointers, the nation’s seventh-ranked team, won 3-1 on Saturday and 4-0 on Sunday. Lake Forest is now 11-8-4 overall this season and 4-5-4 in league play. Stevens Point raised its overall record to 15-4-4 and its NCHA mark to 9-1-3.

The visitors scored a pair of goals in Saturday’s opening period and added one in the second. The Foresters scored their only goal of the game, a power play score, at the 3:40 mark of the third. Senior Darby McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids) netted the goal, her sixth of the season, off an assist from sophomore Allison Rushing (Seattle, WA/Seattle Admirals).

Junior goaltender Sally Bevis (Huntington, NY/North American Hockey Academy) recorded 36 saves in the game and maintained her .921 save percentage on the year. Freshman Jess Zublin (Pawling, NY/Greenwich Academy) was between the pipes on Sunday and stopped a career-high 35 of 39 shots on goal.

The Pointers scored a power play goal at 14:07 in the first period and added an even strength score at 14:08 in the second. The visitors netted two more goals at 17:11 and 18:33 in the third.

Lake Forest will finish the regular season with a pair of home games against UW-Superior next weekend (February 24-25). The Foresters and Yellowjackets, who are also ranked among the top 10 in the country, will face off at 7:00 Friday night and at 2:00 the following afternoon.
