Lake Forest Settles for Split at Concordia Wisconsin, Finishes Fifth in NCHA
Team will face UW-Eau Claire on Friday in first round of O'Brien Cup Tournament

MEQUON, Wis. - The Forester women's hockey team was defeated 2-1 at Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday afternoon (February 21). Lake Forest finishes the regular season 11-13-1 overall and 7-10-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, good for fifth in the league standings. The Falcons raised their overall record to 6-16-3 and placed sixth in the NCHA with a mark of 4-11-3.

After a scoreless opening period, Forester sophomore Sam Herron (Clinton Township, Mich./Victory Honda) put the visitors ahead with a power play goal at 11:37 in the second. Her seventh score of the season was assisted by classmate Lynn Switaj (Avon Lake, Ohio/Ohio Flames). Herron and Switaj combined for three goals and as many assists on the weekend. Concordia tied the game with 3:45 to play in the period.

The score remained 1-1 until the home team netted the game winner with 45 seconds remaining in the contest.

Forester sophomore goaltender Brittany Lemke (St. Charles, Ill./St. Mary's University) recorded 31 saves, including 16 in the final period. She raised her save percentage on the year to .922.

Lake Forest will face off against fourth-place UW-Eau Claire in the first round of the NCHA O'Brien Cup Tournament next Friday (February 27). League champion UW-River Falls will host the event, which will continue with the semifinals on Saturday and the final on Sunday.
