Kim Herring Named Forester Athlete of the Week for Second Time this Season
Sophomore set one program record and tied another during eight-point weekend

Kim Herring
LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College women’s hockey player Kim Herring (Dover, N.H./Groton School) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (February 25) for her performance in a sweep of Concordia University Wisconsin last weekend (February 19-20).

Herring, a sophomore forward, helped Lake Forest defeat the visiting Falcons 3-1 Friday night to claim the first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association championship in team history. She assisted on the first goal of the game, scored the second, and helped set up an insurance score late in the contest. The goal she scored was her single-season team record 23rd of the year.

The Foresters defeated Concordia Wisconsin 5-4 Saturday afternoon and Herring was part of all five goals, scoring twice and assisting on the other three. Her five points matched the program’s single-game record, shared by four other players.

Herring leads the nation in points per game (1.91) and game-winning goals (8) and surpassed the previous school record for points (31) earlier this year. She has 44 points on 25 goals and 19 assists and is just one assist shy of the team record for a season.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Herring also earned the award on December 10 and was named NCHA Player of the Week for the second time this year on Tuesday.
